LEGO October 2023 – What’s New!!!
LEGO is like a rollercoaster ride. Just when you think its over, a new month rolls in and there are new surprises to be enjoyed. And just like that, October brings new sets and more excitement.
Big sets to look out for
21343: The Viking Village
There are some truly beautiful larger sets releasing in October. It is difficult to pick my favourite. I will say that the Viking Village promises to be a lovely set to build. It is the 51st in the Ideas theme and deserves its place in the theme.
The Viking Village is full of detail. I am always appreciative of sets which have bits that can be lifted and separated. It adds to the playability. It adds to the pleasure of it all. This set definitely fits that special place.
With 2,103 pieces, LEGO set 21343 comes with 4 minifigures and loads of building pleasure
10325: Alpine Lodge
Another stunning addition to the Winter Village collection. This set comes with 1,517 pieces and 5 lovely minifigures. The sentiment around this set, by friends, has been overwhelmingly positive.
It measures 21cm (H) x 24cm (W) x 16cm (D). This set is built with the main chalet, an outhouse, ice rink, and a snowmobile and trailer that carries the Christmas tree.
The chalet is the highlight of the build. There is plenty of detail on three levels. Downstairs is the lounge where the Christmas tree is decorated. There is a warm fireplace that is lit by a light brick. Upstairs are two bedrooms that keep the theme of the holiday season.
75367: Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser
The Venator is the biggest of the sets releasing in October. It is a UCS Star Wars set (Ultimate Collectors’ Series) and is built with a massive 5,374 pieces. Although it comes with two minifigures, it is the structure, the build of the Venator that is the “star of the show”.
This is a sleek build in predominantly light bluish grey. The dark red is the striking feature of its appearance. Its measurements are 32cm (H) x 22cm (W) x 109cm (L).
Thank you Hans Burkhard Schlömer (LEGO Star Wars Model Designer) for this masterpiece.
Smaller sets that I like
40613: Mini Disney Palace of Agrabah
Perhaps this is not part of the Disney 100-year celebration, however, it is a striking built on a mini-scale. I love the Architecture range and this just about fits in the brief, surely.
This is a gorgeous representation of the palace and I love the colours of this set. White, dark red and pearl gold are exquisitely used to give us something fittingly beautiful for the Disney theme.
40658: Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama
This likely to be a gift with purchase (GWP), but we can always hope that it is something we can buy. Here’s hoping!
The diorama is built with 282 pieces and comes with 5 minifigs (if we include Porg and BB-8). It is not likely to be an intense building experience but it has many features that make it worth adding to your collection.
40642: Gingerbread Ornaments
Another Christmas themed set; this Iconic set brings us 190 pieces of nearly endless pleasure. The Gingerbread Ornaments allows the builder to customise their own Gingerbread “person”.
This looks like it can be built to hang on the Christmas tree. If so, this is definitely going onto my Christmas tree.
Happy building!
